Smartphone-compatible balloon measurement and aerial photography system
We will use smartphones to operate measuring instruments, read data, and take photographs.
This system is a multipurpose measurement and aerial photography system primarily composed of smartphones equipped with the Android OS. By utilizing various functions of the smartphone, it performs operations such as controlling measuring instruments, reading data, and taking photographs, aiming for lightweight and compact design. Measurements of temperature, wind speed, and atmospheric pressure can be conducted within the reach of Wi-Fi radio waves (approximately 150 meters). Users can connect their desired measuring instruments to the I/O control board connected to the smartphone and revise the program to receive and display measurement instructions and data. For capturing images of drifting oil and debris at sea, the built-in camera of the smartphone is used. While viewing the monitor screen transmitted to a tablet, users can take photographs by touching the shutter button on the screen as needed. *This device is a product developed in collaboration with the Port and Airport Research Institute (PARI).
